Agent Beck: Halloween Special
Intro: Welcome to Hiddenville City, a place where evil thrives all times of day. Here my organization puts a stop to them one villain at a time. We are the Crimson Shield. A special humans unit where we stop all the underground villains. We fight in secret to help the world, that is our mission. Enjoy this spooky tale. Agent Beck enters a haunted house to find a statue, but he might find more than just a monster.
“Trick or Treat!” I heard a few children scream. I was walking through a small neighborhood on a mission. The organization got a tip of a ‘real’ haunted house on this block. What these people didn’t know was this house was also emitting radioactive energy. The same energy from an ancient artifact that we have been looking for since the year started.
“The Crying Whale” I read from my phone. This artifact is known from the tale of the stranded whale on shore who moaned for help. The people heard its cries and came to the whale, but instead of pushing the whale back in the water, they killed it for food. The whale cried in pain and after they left its deconstructed body on the beach, its blood went into the sand and turned to stone and from that stone a small whale statue was made.
Now, we don’t know who made the statue back then, but what I do know is the power of this thing is real. Whoever holds it, can summon a monstrous whale to devour you. Not only that, but it can scream a powerful ‘cry’ which can make your ears bleed and you die.
“Here we are.” I looked up at the house and it was barely functional. Falling apart at the seams. I guess the owners gave up on trying to sell it on the market. I walk up to the door and peer through the window. The inside was covered in webs and furniture sheets. I looked around and saw no one was coming, so I used my strength to break the door handle and slowly walk inside. I close the door and take out my monitor to track the artifact.
If I was a kid, I would have peed my pants, but since becoming an agent, the old scary tales are nothing compared to what I have faced. Bang! I look up and hear something upstairs. I point my monitor up and it beeps like crazy. I head upstairs and point it towards an abandoned room. I slowly push it open and the beeping suddenly gets louder. Creek! I walk near a closet and ready my gun. I pull the door off the hinges and point my gun.
“What the hell?!” I screamed. A little girl wearing a nightgown was shaking in the closet. “How did I not smell her?” I think. I put my gun away and slowly kneel.
“Who are you and why did you break into my home?!” she yelled. I look around at this broken down room and remember that some homeless people could stay here.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to break into your home. I promise I won’t hurt you. I just came here for a statue. Have you seen it?” I asked. Her eyes fill with rage and she runs past me. This makes my monitor break completely down.
“Does she have the statue?” I whispered. I chased after her and for someone her age she was fast…but I was faster. I activate my speed and stop her in her tracks. She was about to open the basement door. “Do you have the statue kid!” I questioned.
“No! That statue took mommy and daddy from me and I want it gone!” she cried. I look at her with shock and wonder how that could have happened. Usually the person who touches the artifact has control over the monster…unless. Bang!
A noise so loud was coming from the basement. The house began to shake and I knew she needed to stay upstairs.
“Stay here kid.” I open the door and immediately smell rotten fish. I run downstairs and see a monstrous whale destroying the basement. I look around and see the statue over a fireplace and like I thought. “It’s cracked.” I mumbled. When a powerful artifact gets cracked, it gives the spirit free-will. Her parents probably didn’t know this thing was magic and touched it, but how did the girl survive? The monster notices me and runs towards me. I jump over it and dash to the statue. I reveal a roll of tape from my jacket. Believe it or not, tape can fix anything.
“Howl!!!” I forgot about his power and got my ass slammed into the wall. I lost the tape. I struggle to get up as it yells again. I cover my ears in pain. Blood drips down and I knew I had to shut this monster up. I see a nearby painting and throw it in his mouth. It impacts him and I quickly look around for the tape.
“Roar!”
“Fuck me!” It charges at me and swings his tail at me. I block it with my arm and use all my strength to swing it around. I slam it into the fireplace, and the statue lands near the stairs. It shook it off and was about to blow another howl. I shoot my guns to take out his eyes. It yells in pain which was enough time to grab the statue. I grab it and begin to run upstairs. I see the girl sitting on the couch.
“Please tell me you have tape?!” I asked. She looks at me with worry but nods her head. She points to the kitchen and by some miracle I see the tape on the counter. That monster would be up here any second, so I look at her and decide to have some trust. “Listen to me, the monster will go away if you cover this crack with tape. Once that is done, yell ‘Go Away’.” I instructed. She slowly nodded and when I handed her the item, her skin was ice cold.
Boom! The monster appears and his eyes are healed. I ready my guns but see he is not focused on me. He wanted the girl, but not on my watch. He was about to scream but I took a table and slammed it on its back. He looks at me and snarls. He grows claws and begins to slash at me. I dodge him and slash him back with my own claws. I am backed up against a window and I see this monster smile. I looked out of the window and saw the block was full of kids. If he howled right now, it would kill them all. I watched him take a breath and right now I needed a miracle. The only way to stop him would be to charge at him and deflect the howl but then the girl would be harmed from the collapsing ceiling.
“Damnit…”
“Go Away!” I hear from the kitchen. The monster looks at me with a seldom expression as I watch him fade away. I fall to the ground to take a breath.
“Agent Beck! Sorry I am late…what the hell happened here?” she asked, busting through the door.. This was a rookie agent who joined us a month ago. I was supposed to be training her but I backed out due to her always being late (like now).
“Go to the kitchen and check on the girl.” I commanded. She runs to the kitchen and quickly comes back with the statue in hand, but no girl.
“I found the statue, but I didn’t see a girl. What did she look like?”
“She looked almost twelve with brown hair and green eyes.” I described. I see her look at a photo on a table and walk it over to me.
“This girl. I hope not. She died with her family almost a year ago because of this statue. If they would have reported this on the news maybe we could have found this statue sooner.” she explained. I took the photo and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Who would have thought the media was right. This place was haunted, but with someone only trying to keep others out so they wouldn’t get hurt.” I spoke. The rookie looks at me with confusion as we leave the house. I begin to close the door…
“Happy Halloween Kid.”
Agent Beck out.
