Bitten By Love CH 3.3
After
that crazy and intense scene, we finally closed the café. And it was just in
time too because we only had thirty minutes before the game started. Will let
me ride with him and the guards in the family car. In the back it was quiet and
awkward until I playful pinched his nose. He slapped my hand away and laughed.
I joined him and while leaning my head on his arm. He wrapped his arm around me
as we rode to the campus in silence. But this time it wasn’t a bad silence but
a good one.
We
arrived at the campus and hurried to the gym before they shut the doors. While
running I couldn’t help but notice a strange smell in the air as we passed the
school security guards. We entered the gym room and saw it was full. I thought
we wouldn’t find seats but luckily my sister waved to us. I nudged Will to
follow and we sat next to her. She hugged me and giggled at Will and all he did
was wave as a response.
“Thank
the devils you made it. Xavier would not stop asking about you…oh look there he
goes right now.” she pointed. I look over to Xavier who was on the bench with
his team. He waves at me and I wave back. “Aww, you guys are so cute…Now scoot
over so I can talk to Will.” she whispered. I shrug and move over so she could sit
in the middle. Xavier stuck his tongue at me and I returned his gesture,
laughing. This time my mark wasn’t burning because Will was too busy listening
to my talkative sister.
The
horn went off and the game had begun. I was never really a basketball fan, but
just to see how good Xavier was, is worth the boredom. As the game was in
motion a strange smell kept annoying my nose. I believe Will smelled it too
because he was rubbing his nose more than usual. We both looked at each other
as I pointed to my head. He winked at me, meaning ‘okay’.
“What is that strange smell?” I asked.
“I don’t know, but it is very irritating
and seeing how no one else is bothered by it means we are the only two who can smell
it.” he replied.
“So, should we follow the smell or sit
here like it’s nothing?” I said.
“As much as I hate to admit it. We must
stay put because wherever this smell is coming from is just a way to signal us
out. I mean the hunters do have us on video remember.”
“That’s true. Plus, since they were able
to get on campus so easily last time, it means someone here is a hunter
undercover. I wonder who though?”
“Yeah, it could be anyone. So, for now
just try and hold out.”
“I will, but this still doesn’t explain
why we are the only two who smell this…could it be because of the mark?” I
questioned. All he did was give me a ‘I don’t know’ look. I
sighed and returned my attention to the game to help distract my nose. Xavier
was playing now, and he was a skillful player. He scored his team fifteen
points which put them in the lead. I cheered for him when he dunked the ball
with one swoop. His team huddled him with hugs as the horn sounded. It was
half-time now, which meant the teams were in break mode. I went down to the
court to greet Xavier.
“I
thought you would suck but it looks like you proved me wrong.” I joked. He
laughed at my joke while touching my shoulder.
“I’m
happy I could impress you. Plus, I’m happy you showed too. I remembered you
telling me at the party that you weren’t a sports fan.” he said.
“Well
I gave you my word and I always keep my word.” I stated, nudging his arm. He
smirked at me and handed me a sheet of torn paper. I looked at it and saw his
number was on it. “Well let’s hope I can make you keep more of your words as
time goes on. Like maybe a date.” he said.
“I
like that confidence and sure I would love too. Just name the time and place
and I’ll be there.” He smiled at me as the horn went off.
“That’s
weird half-time shouldn’t be over yet.” he mumbled. I looked at him with worry
after hearing what he said. I tried to find Will but couldn’t spot him
anywhere. My sister must have dragged him off somewhere.
“Just
great.” I said, covering my ears. The smell started to grow worst, I looked
towards the window ceiling. That's where the smell was coming from and then out
of nowhere white bags started to drop from it. When they impacted the floor, a strong
and fierce white powder filled the room.
“Damn it!”
