Bitten By Love CH 3.1

“I say advance technology is a good thing. I mean look at all the stuff we can do now, that we couldn’t do back then.” Ariana argued. The only reason she was making such a point was because of our World Studies class. This is day two of our debate session and today we are arguing over technology and if it is good for our people or not. Ariana banged her hands on the desk and stood to make her point even clearer. I rolled my eyes and did a fake yawn. She gave me an annoyed look and all I did was snicker. I hated being on the same side as her because she would always get so damn competitive. Especially when it comes to proving she is right.

“Well, I hate to disagree, but I disagree. Yes, technology is important but only when it is truly needed. For example, because of technology including phones and laptops. Kids today can’t seem to stay off them and focus on more important things in life like schoolwork. Instead, they rather check their social media pages to see how many followers they have. When there are so many better things to do in life. Like studying the art of using alchemy.” Xavier countered. He was on the disagree side of the debate. He gave me a sly smile with a wink and all I could do was smile. Bang! I looked over and saw Will stand. Everyone in the class gave him their full attention. I believe some of them were even drooling.

“That’s a nice point there, Xavier. And yes, technology can be consuming to the young. But it doesn’t mean all of them fall into temptation. Some use technology for the good of life. Like learning alchemy can now be done online without them having to carry such big books. Another example you used was school work, well that can be done quicker and more efficient thanks to technology. Right, Cassandra?” Will stated. He caught me off guard by asking me that question and now all eyes were on me. I stood from my chair and took a deep breath.

“Correct Will-Prince William. I believe technology does have it great points, when helping children; education wise. Along with it also being a way for kids not to be bored as much and to let parents have a peace of mind as well.” I commented. I watched as Xavier smiled at me and nodded his head, sitting back in his chair. I returned to my seat and Will followed. He looked at me and snickered. I had no idea why he was snickering until my mark started to tingle. The mark allowed us to read each other’s emotions. I scrunched my face and kicked him in the leg.

“You jerk! You called on me on purpose.” I whispered. As a response all he did was stick out his tongue. I wanted to be mad but couldn’t because this right here reminded me of the old days with him. So, I simply sighed and turned my attention to the window.

The class bell rung, and everyone dashed out the classroom. I wanted to leave with them, but Ariana stopped me. I gave her the ‘what’ look and all she did was mouthed the words “watch” while winking. I watched as she walked over to Will and tapped him on the shoulder. I turned up my vampire hearing just to hear what they were saying.

“Hey William! I was wondering are you busy this evening?” she asked with her squeaky voice.

“Nope. Nothing but studying, why?”

“Perfect! I was wondering if you would like to come to a basketball game tonight. It’s the first game of the season and I thought you would like to see how good our team is.”. Will looked at her for quite a moment and started to rub the back of his head. He was never really into sports growing up, but he did love the extreme action sports like boxing and or wrestling. He glanced at me and all I did was shrug.

“Sure, why not. I mean it’s better than sitting in my dorm all night.” he answered. I stopped listening after his response and felt someone touch my shoulder. I turned and saw it was Xavier. We gave each other a quick hug and smiled.

“Hey Cassy. How have you been?”

“Enough with the fake small talk. I know you really want to know my sister’s reaction to the video I posted yesterday of her at the party.” I teased.

“Guilty as charge…so how did she react?” he laughed.

“She freaked the F out. She was crying in her bed for hours because it made the number one video for the month.” I laughed, wiping a tear from my eye.

“Classic.” he responded. He placed his hand on my shoulder for balance. I held it, so he wouldn’t fall from all the laughing but while doing that a weird burning sensation hit my neck. It was my mark it was burning for some reason. I peered over to my left and saw Will was staring at me with a rageful look.

“Okay, I think the laugh bugs have left me now. So, I know this seems lame but since I am on the basketball team. How would you like to come…”

“I would love to come to the game. What time does it start?” I questioned, cutting him off.

“Eight p.m. but if you just want the action then nine.” he joked. I giggled at his joke and nodded.

“I’ll be there then. See you tonight!” I said, walking out the class and passing a rageful Will. I wanted to talk to him, but I needed to get to my next lecture and then to work. “Sorry Will.” I thought.

I arrived at the café and saw a new sign on the window. “September 6th and every other Thursdays will be free Iced Tea Day.” I read. I went into the café and saw the place was packed to the brim. I saw Misty come from the back of the kitchen. She was wearing a ruby red dress today.

“Thank the devils you’re here. With the new deal this place is packed, and we could really use your help. You will need vampire speed today, Love. Because not only will you serve but I need you to train Luna too!” she exclaimed. I patted her shoulder to make her take a breath and nodded. The afternoon rush was always the worst.

“Understood Misty. Now breathe!” I said. She nodded and took a breath. She straightened her posture and returned to the customers. I rapidly changed into my maid outfit and added some more concealer to my neck. I looked around for Luna and saw she was shaking with fear behind the counter of the bar. I tapped her on the back and smiled.

“You won’t be able to take peoples order like this.” I joked. She stopped shaking and I helped her up. “Now come on I promise you these customers will not bite.”. We walked over to my first table and handed her a notepad.

“Wel…Welcome to…Mc’Love Café. May I take your order, sir?” she stuttered. The guy gave her a weird expression but still gave his order.

“Good. I could tell you were a little nervous, but we will get you there little by little. Now go over to the order pad and I will be over in a sec, literally.” I said. She nodded and walked over to the pad. Using my vampire speed, I took the rest of my tables orders and went over to the pad. I showed Luna how to put in the orders and how to even put in special orders. This place was just fast moving all day and it never seemed to slow down and because this was a café we had very few staff. So, that meant no break for me until everything slowed down.

I was bussing a table when I heard several females scream. Since Hunter X people were after me, I turned around in a fighting stance. I nearly dropped the busser tub when I saw who came into the café.

“Will?!” I screamed.
