Crescent Moon CH1.2
“Crescent
come on downstairs before your breakfast gets cold.” Dad exclaimed.
“Okay!”
I yelled. I got off my bed and changed out of my robe into some jegging and a
white tank top with some fuzzy socks. I entered the kitchen, which smelled
heavenly. I saw pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon on the counter and a gallon
of orange juice too. I sat at the table as I saw Alexander cleaning the dishes.
He looked normal-thank God-and my dream was truly a dream, even though it
seemed so real. I dug into my plate giving my Mom compliments on the food. I
saw Dad walk over to Alexander and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Come
on now. There’s no need to do the dishes so fast now. Come…” he pulled him over
to the table “and have breakfast with us son. You do eat don’t cha? ” he said.
Alexander to my surprise didn’t force out of it, he just sat down and Mom gave
him a plate and he dug right in. I watched him eat for a while until Mom nudged
me to stop staring. I blushed a little with embarrassment then finished eating.
“Breakfast
was a delight, Mrs. Moon.” Alexander said with a smile. My Mom giggled and told
him thank you. There were a lot of dishes, so I offered Alexander a hand-just to
be nice, not to flirt or anything.
“Okay.
You can help, I wash you dry.” he said.
“Okay.”
I replied. I stood next to him, imagining him in that demon form from my dream
and now that I think of it, it was hot. I guess he noticed I was staring and
looked back at me, I looked away. I heard him snicker.
“What?”
I questioned.
“Oh,
nothing I was just thinking of how those dishes are barely getting cleaned
because you keep staring at me. I mean it’s okay to stare if that’s all you
wanted to do, all you had to do was ask.” he responded with a normal English
accent while smirking. I looked shocked for a minute and then laughed.
“I
knew you were too real and perfect to be true! That whole British accent is
just a play isn’t it?” I said. He looked at me and smiled placing a finger on
his mouth.
“Yes,
you caught me, but I have a good reason for it though.”
“Really,
let me guess. It helped you get this job and to also attract women too.”
“Bingo.”
he said in a joking tone. I nudged him while wiping the dishes.
“Well,
I have to say it’s working out pretty well for you so far. So, you don’t have
to worry your secret is safe with me.” I said winking.
“Thanks,
Crescent.”. He walked over to the dry dishes and began to put them away. Once
he was done he approached me closer and lend down, we were face to face. I
could feel my face start to fluster as he placed a hand on my cheek and pushed
a piece of hair out my eye and backed away.
“Thank
you.” I said. He smiled saying “You’re welcome mi-lady.” I stood there in shock remembering the words he just
said. I heard my Mom yelled my name and that snapped me out of it and I went to
her, waving goodbye to Alexander.
My Mom
can be so special, literally calling me upstairs just to unpack my clothes. It
took hours to finally finish, but at least she would be out of my hair for now.
It was going on five p.m. and nightfall had taken its place. That sucked
because I really wanted to go out and see the town. So, instead, I decided to
explore the house some more. My parents were doing whatever in the study and I
had no idea where Alexander was so I was alone for the meantime. I walked
around the first floor and noticed a small door. I opened it and seen stairs
leading downward. I walked down there and noticed another door. I tried to open
it but it was locked. But since I am from Chicago, I know a few things about
picking locks. I know I shouldn’t be so nosey but I’m bored and boredom rules
all. I got it unlocked and entered. The room was dark until I switched on the
lights. This mysterious room was actually just a bedroom. This room had a
full-size bed in the middle covered in black sheets, candle holders on the
walls which were gray-colored, and the floor was covered in red carpet and off
to the sides was a closet on my right and huge stereo to my left.
“Not
bad…this must be…” I stopped talking when I felt my hands start to tingle. I
looked at them and for a slight second even though the lights were on, my hands
were glowing white. Then as I walked around, I saw them glow brighter and
brighter until I reached the closet. Then a vision came into my head of that
crescent staff from my dream. Then a tap hit my back.
I
turned around to see once again Alexander behind me.
“Man does he ever make any noise.” I
thought. “Oh, Hi Alex-“ I was stopped from talking.
“What
are you doing in my room or a better question how’d you get in here?” he asked
with anger. I looked down at my hands to see they have stopped glowing.
“Maybe
this was all in my head.” I mumbled.
“What?!”
he asked. I looked up at him and waved my hand in his face.
“Oh,
it’s nothing and I’m very sorry. I had no idea this was your room, in fact, I
had no idea you were staying here with us.” I answered. He calmed a little and
handed me a piece of paper. It was the contract my Mom had signed when she
applied for the contest. He pointed to the butler section and in bold letters,
I read ‘Your butler is to stay with you at all times in his own quarters
located in the basement.’
“Mom,
Dad, you never tell me anything.” I cried. I heard him laugh as he took the
paper from me.
“Since
you didn’t know. I will let you off the hook, but really though how’d you get
in here? I mean the door was locked.” he wondered.
“Well,
when you grow up in Chicago and hang with some certain people, you learn a few
new things.” I answered shrugging. I walked with him out of the room and he
locked it with a key.
“Well
don’t do it again, or I’ll have to punish you.” he said winking. I giggled as a
response.
***
After
dinner, my mom made him join again. It was finally bedtime for me. I mean sure,
I would love to go out and party, but our house is in a forest not a block and
I really don’t feel like running into Jason out there. My bed was wonderfully
soft, and I fell asleep with no problem until I felt something breathing down my
neck. I opened my eyes to see a guy in a hockey mask standing over me. I tried
to scream but a cloth went over my face, and everything went black.
I
awoke on the ground that was covered in dirt and when I looked down, I was in a
white robe. I touched my head trying to remember what happened, then as I saw
him everything came running back. The mysterious man was sitting on a huge rock
sharpening his knife. His back was to me, so I decided to get up and make a run
for it. But as I ran past a tree, he was suddenly in front of me. We were both
in a struggle as I tried to break his grip.
“Let
go you…you freak!” I screamed. Then out of nowhere, my hands started to feel
tingly again as a white beam came blasting out my hands pushing the man back. I
looked stunned as I stared at my hands.
“How
did I…” I was cut short when I looked at the mysterious man with horror. His
mask had slipped off and behind it was a fiery face engulfed in red and then
his jumpsuit burned off and his body was cover in fur. He resembled a wolf, but
this wolf was a pure demon from hell. He looked at me, fear came to my eyes.
“You
bitch! You’re dead!” he yelled charging at me. Man, how I wished whatever I did
before would happen again, as I blocked for impact. A gush of wind came at my
sides, I looked to see a figure come and slice the demon in half. When this
figure came out of the shadows it was Alexander, but he was in his monster form
from my dreams. He came closer to me.
“Alexander?”
“Shh.
All will be explained in time, but until then please rest mi-lady.” he said
placing his hand over my eyes. Once again everything went black.
I
awoke the next morning in horror. I looked around to see I was back in my room
and the white robe I had on was back to my blue bottoms and pink tank top
pajamas. I observed my hands and seen a few scratches on them and they were red
too. Seeing this made me think it wasn’t just a dream anymore.
“I wonder.” I thought. I held my hand out
and aimed for my old cat bobblehead on my desk. I focused and a tiny beam came
shooting out of my hand and knocked the bobblehead right off.
“So,
it wasn’t a dream!” I mumbled. “Which means…” I rushed out of bed and ran to the
kitchen and found it empty.
“Mom!
Dad!” I yelled.
“They're
still sleeping.” Alexander said walking in the room. “Are you okay Crescent?”
he said with his cover accent. He acted like what happened last night didn’t
happen at all, which was strange. Maybe I really was losing it.
“Yeah.
Just a little frazzled from a bad dream I had last night.” I replied. He smiled
and walked past me to enter the cabinets and as he did a vision of him in his
monster form came to me.
“Maybe I wasn’t
losing it after all. Something weird is going on here and I’m going to find out
exactly what…”.
Chapter Two will be released soon.
