Bitten by Love CH 2.3

“Well, I always was the danger loving person.” I joked, trying to ease the mood. He laughed at my joke and let me go. We both sat on my spare bed and looked at each other.

“Yeah you always were…maybe that’s why I could never say no to you. When you always had those crazy ideas.” he teased. I nudged him in the shoulder and smiled.

“See now there’s the person I know and lov-care for. Now what are we going to do about this mark. I mean I can keep using concealer but eventually I will run out.” I informed. He started to rub his chin and then laid back on the bed.

“Truth is… I don’t know Cassy. You were my first bite after all. I will have to do some research on it. But I won’t be able to do it until Friday.”

“Right, you are busy after all. By the way, where did you go after you drop me off last night?” I questioned.

“Oh, umm let’s just say I needed to burn off that extra power. So, I flew around all night until now.”

“What?! And you’re just getting back now! Did I give you that much power?”

“I guess you did…or maybe because it was my first time, that I just couldn’t handle the power.”. I leaned back on the bed with him and looked him in the eyes.

“I’m sorry for well everything. I know you didn’t ask for this.”

“It’s okay Cassy. Besides I rather my first bite be with you than anyone else…” he paused from talking after realizing what he said. He quickly rose up and walked towards the door. “I should probably get going before people get the wrong idea and rumors start to spread.” he said. And before I could say another word, he was gone.

I changed into my pajamas and laid on my bed looking at the ceiling. Zero came next to me and rubbed against my face. I brushed his head and turned over. I couldn’t sleep for some reason and decided to play some games on my phone. Then out of the blue an old number- I never thought I would see on my phone again- was calling me. I answered it.

“May I help you? Because I could have sworn, we just talked like an hour ago, Will.” I stated. He laughed at my humor and the next thing I knew I was up all night talking to him about anything that came to mind. It was like we were back to being normal again and I couldn’t be happier… but why did it feel like just from this one phone call, it would somehow be our last.

Today on this nice and lovely Friday, I feel betrayed and really want to punch something. The day I thought was finally happening wasn’t happening at all. I was relaxing on my bed cuddled with Zero (don’t judge me) and I got a phone call from Will. He told me to meet him at the city park for a picnic. I was just so happy, that random thoughts started to fill my head. Mostly how I would finally have alone time with Will and I could maybe call this a date.

I arrived at the park by 10 am and instead of meeting Will by himself. His guards were with him and a little girl. Just from her appearance, I remembered who she was. She was Will little sister, Hannah. She took after their mom when it came to her light brown hair color. Hannah was wearing a white and red polka-dot shirt with a red skirt and flats. Her hair was in two curly pig-tales (her signature hair style).

Will waves at me as I walk over with a confused look on my face. I returned his wave and received a big hug from Hannah. I got on one knee and gave a heart worthy smile.

“I missed you so much, Cassy!” she stated.

“I missed you too Han.” I teased. Her red eyes went dark as she pouted.

“Don’t call me Han!” she commanded.

“Oh yes, where are my manners Princess Hannah.” I said, laughing. Will did a small snicker but stopped once she kicked him in the leg. “So, what exactly is going on here Will?” I asked.

“Well what else a picnic of course. Except there’s one twist…it’s more like a play date with my sister Hannah. I told her how much you missed her and wanted to see her, so I arranged this play date just for the two of you.” he explained while fake laughing. I clenched my fist with annoyance. Sure, I love Hannah, but to think he was using me as a babysitter really pissed me off.

“Can you excuse me and Will for a moment. But while you’re waiting I’ll let you have first grabs at the desserts.” I said, winking. She quickly nodded and ran over to the blanket. I gave Will the eye and all he did was rub the back of his head.

“Look, I’m sorry. But I forgot I promised Hannah I would play with her today. So, for me to go to the library in private, I needed your help.” he stated. He gave me a ‘sorry’ facial expression which made me sigh.

“Fine. Go now before I change my mind!” I commanded. “Oh, and do the guards have to stay because they are super creepy?”

“Yeah. Sorry, but it’s their job to watch over her. I mean she is only ten and can be quite a handful.” he answered, shrugging. The next thing I knew he was off and I was left all alone with these bulky guards. I sat on the blanket and smiled at Hannah.

“So, Hannah what have you been up to lately?” I asked. I watched as her face grew sad. I picked up a macaroon from the basket and ate it.

“Nothing much. It has truly been boring there. All everyone seems to focus on is my brother.” she pouted. I stopped eating and placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Well once your brother takes the throne. All the attention will be back on you again. So, until then, you have me as your fun buddy okay Han.” I said.

“Okay…and stop calling me Han!” she commands. I laugh at her command and rapidly grabbed her hand.

“Alrighty, a day of fun here we come!” I screamed with joy.

The entire day was filled with activity. That I think it was hard for the guards to keep up. First, we feed the ducks at the pond and then we played fast-ball. Which is basically us throwing the ball back and forth, but we are using our vampire speed and strength. Than we took a nice bike ride (she was in the basket) through the whole park. And just to beat the heat, we played water tag in the meadows. I was careful though to make sure the water didn’t hit my neck.

We laid on the blanket breathing hard and laughing. She looked at me and smiled. It was the brightest smile I’ve ever saw. “My brother was right.” she said.

“Right about what?” I questioned.

“That you are nothing but fun! He told me all the stories from when you guys were young and all the crazy adventures you dragged him on.” she explained. “He said he is really thankful to have meet you…and I couldn’t agree more.”

“What…that so…thanks Hannah.” I said, blushing. She noticed my blush and an evil smile crept on her face.

“You like my brother, don’t you?”

“What!?! No! We are just friends and nothing more!” I replied.

“Oh yeah then how come your face is red?” she teased. I pouted my cheeks and gave her a bad head rub. “Stop!”

“No way! This is for teasing me about that idiot of a brother!” I laughed. After about five minutes I let her go and we decided to eat our sandwiches from the basket.

“I’m right though, right?” she mumbled. I paused from eating and slowly nodded.

“But it’s our little secret, okay?”

“Okay!” she answered, smiling. I looked around while eating and noticed the park was completely empty. Even the guards have not returned. Which was strange because I know we were having an active day, but it wasn’t that active. I put my sandwich down and stood.

“Hey Hannah, why don’t we take a cab back to the kingdom and finish our play date there.” I said. She nodded and reaches for my hand, but a sharp arrow went pass us. I looked in that direction and saw three people in all-black holding daggers. “Hunter X…Hannah stay close!” I yelled. She quickly got behind me as I grabbed her hand. I took off running but was quickly cut off by two more hunters. They smiled at me and pointed for us to go back. I couldn’t risk Hannah life and followed their orders.

We returned to the center of the park. I observed my surrounding and saw there was no way out without someone shooting something and Hannah getting hurt.

“Is this the girl from the footage of Monday night?” a man asked.

“Yes sir. I remember those glowing sky-blue eyes from anywhere.” a woman answered. Of course, they had cameras in the forest and saw everything that happened even the bite. I slapped my forehead and sighed. The only good thing out of this, is they will no longer hunt level three females and kill them.

“Good, let’s get rid of her, so that powerful act from the Prince will not happen again. And as a bonus message to the kingdom, lets kill the little Princess too.” he commanded. I placed my arm over Hannah and hissed.

“Your problem is with me not her!” I yelled. They all laughed at my statement.

“Does it look like we care, bitch!” he retorted. I balled my fists and readied myself for a fight. I felt Hannah move from behind me to reach for the basket. I gave her a look and in return she pulled a pistol out the basket and hands it to me.
