Bitten by Love CH 2.2
Remember guys this whole book is published by me on Lulu.com if you can't wait for the updates.
I
walked out the café and reached for one of the guys arm before he had the
chance to punch the poor girl. I gave him a fierce look and he stepped back
with fear. I helped the girl up and pulled her into the café. I saw the boys
look confuse on what I was doing. I went back outside and crossed my arms.
“You
give vampires a bad name!” I shouted.
They all hissed at me and I hissed back. I felt someone grab my shoulder. I
turned around and saw it was Misty.
“Go
and make sure that poor girl is okay…I will talk to these young men myself.”
she commanded. I nodded and went back inside. I walked over to the girl. She
was petite in height had curly black hair and blue eyes. Her skin was as white
as snow; making me think she was a vampire, but from her smell she was a human.
I saw her clothes were ripped and blood marks were on her neck.
“Those
bastards” I mumbled. I tried to comfort her, but she quickly moved her arm
away. I could feel the stares from all our customers, but I ignored them and
went to the back. I grabbed a glass of water and a small Danish from the
dessert bar. I placed them on the table in front of her and kneeled.
“Everything
is fine. You are safe here.” I reassured. She looked at me and slowly nodded. I
looked back outside and saw the group of boys were running away crying. Misty
may look like an angel but she’s more like an angel from Hell. She came back
inside and gave me a wink. I nodded and returned to work.
It was
around closing time and the girl from before was still here. Because her
clothes were such a mess, Misty gave her a maid uniform to wear. I was carrying
a stack load of dishes and out of nowhere I felt small but cold hands on mine.
I looked from behind the stack of dishes and saw it was the girl.
“It’s
okay…I’ve got this you just sit…”
“Please
let me help!” she mumbled. Even though her voice was soft and light, I could
still see a determined look in her eyes. I nodded and handed her half the
dishes. We walked over to the dishwasher and started to load the rack. “Thank
you for saving me, ma’am.” she said.
“You’re
welcome and please call me Cassy.” I replied. She nodded and even though it was
small, a smile appeared on her face.
“Cassy…”
she repeated. “My name is Luna.”
“Well
it’s nice to meet you Luna and thank you for helping me with the dishes. Unlike
most of my co-workers your help is much applied.” I commented, shaking her
hand. “So, how long has those boys been using you as a feeding tool? And do
your parents know?” I questioned, worried.
She
went quiet for a minute, making me think I overstepped my boundaries. “I’m an
orphan…and those boys have been biting me for almost a year now. I’ve tried to
explain my situation to the headmaster of the orphanage, but he won’t listen.”
she cried. I handed her a tissue and hug her to make her calm down. There was
only one orphanage in this city and it was called ‘Un Loc De Vindecare’. Which
is Romanian for ‘A Place of Healing’. This place is for the homeless humans but
it’s also a place where in return for you staying there, the vampires can feed
on your blood for hunger or healing purposes. I couldn’t possible tell her this
and instead patted her head.
“That’s
horrible to hear darling!” I turned around and saw Misty standing right behind
us. “That orphanage was always a bad and twisted place. And to think they would
allow someone so young to be fed on. How old are you dear?” she exclaimed.
“I’m…eighteen.”
Luna answered, blushing. Me and Misty looked at each other shocked. She was so
little and looked so young like a child. I pointed to my head and Misty nodded.
“We can’t allow her to go back! If she
does at this age she will be given to any high-powered vampire and become a
feeding toy!” I told.
“I know, but I believe I have a plan.
Involving her and the rest of the people in the orphanage.” she responded. I
looked at her confused as she walked over to Luna.
“Hey
Luna, how would you like to work here part-time? But just until you make enough
to live on your own and you can stay with me.” she asked. Luna looked surprised
by her words.
“Are
you sure. I wouldn’t want to bother you…”
“It’s
not a bother at all, and in return I would like you to come with me to the
council court room. So, we can get that orphanage a better ruling and
headmaster…Oh and I hope you can handle two hyper boys as well.” she answered,
smiling. Luna nodded so hard that I thought her head would fly off. I giggled
at her reaction and went over to unload the dishwasher. Luna joined me and
after that we talked all day until she went off with Misty to her home.
I
arrived back at the dorms and looked around my bag for my keys. I heard some
foot steps behind me and when I peered to my left. Will was walking past me. It
was like he didn’t see me, like he was in a daze of some kind. He was still
wearing his clothes from last night. Because we are vampires it wasn’t weird for
us to walk around with blood on our clothes in public. I grabbed him by his arm
which woke him up from his daze.
“Hey,
are you okay Will?”
“Yeah,
I’m fine.” he whispered. He sounded depressed. And when I looked him in the
eyes, his eyes were dull and emotionless.
“I
don’t buy that for a minute…and besides after what happened last night, we need
to talk.” I said. He turned his head away from me and I grabbed his chin,
turning it back. We locked eyes with one another which made my dream reappear
back in my head. I could feel my face go red as I released him. “I won’t force
you to talk to me but…”
“Why
did you do it?! Why couldn’t you just let me die?!” he screamed. I saw people
in the hallway look at us. So, I opened my door and pulled him inside. He
slowly walked over to my bed and collapsed on it. “Just why?” he mumbled
through a pillow.
“You
are really acting like a child now Will! I mean how could you be so selfish and
only think about yourself! I care about you and I couldn’t just run off and let
you die. Listen I know you are not liking your life right now but grow up and
learn to live with it!” I exclaimed. He rose his head to look at me with shock.
“Will I know you want a life full of freedom, but if you have to rule; then
rule. Being king does not stop you from being you. Think about it for
one second. All through our childhood together did being the next king stop you
from attending elementary or high school? Did it stop you from going on trips
with us or to prom? No! I know your parents are dictating when it comes to the
kingdom but not when it comes to your
life…. So, yes, I did what I had to do because you still have such a life to
live!” I expressed.
The
next thing I knew, tears started to flow down my face. I quickly wiped them
away. As I felt warm hands wrap around me. “I’m sorry Cassy. I didn’t mean to
make you cry…and you’re right…It’s just I didn’t want you to get involved in
this madness. You are the only normal thing I have in my life and now you’re involved
in a world full of danger.” he confessed.
