Bitten By Love CH 1.3
“You
got something on your cheek!” he screamed. He placed his hand on my cheek and
wiped it off.
“Thanks!”
I said. He smiled at me revealing a little fang, but all that changed as
someone grabbed his wrist. I looked over and saw Will was holding his arm. He
gave me the ‘who is this’ look as Xavier pulled his arm back.
“May
we help you our Prince?” Xavier questioned. I could feel a strong tension
between them, so I decided to stand between them.
“Hey,
Xavier would you mind getting me another drink, please?” I asked, distracting
him from Will.
“Uh,
sure!” he replied, walking away. I turned to Will as he glared at him. I punched
his arm to regain his attention.
“You
never change do you! You were like this at prom and homecoming. What’s your
deal!?” I stated. He crossed his arms and puffed his cheeks. No matter how
manly he had become he still had his childish features.
“I don’t
trust him!” he answered.
“You
say that about every guy and only once was your theory right!” I explained. He
looked me in the eyes and sighed. I could feel some type of sorrow from his
eyes like he wanted to tell me something. “What is really going on, Will?” I
asked.
“Cassy,
listen…” he stopped talking when Xavier came back with my drink. “Never mind
enjoy the party you two.”. He walked away with pace before I could stop him.
“Thank
you.” I said, taking the drink. He nodded, and we went back to talking. But no
matter what he was saying I couldn’t get Will face expression out my mind. I
heard a high-pitch scream and when I looked over to the dancefloor, my sister
was grinding on some random guy. My eyes went wide at her behavior as I shook
my head. I placed my drink in the garbage and looked at Xavier with a ‘sorry’
look.
“Hey,
don’t worry about it. Go take care of your sister. I will see you in class Wednesday.”
he said, motioning me to ‘go’. I walked over to my sister and tapped on her
shoulder. She turned around and hugged me with full force. I nearly couldn’t
breathe. I patted her back and she released me. I took her cup away and wrapped
her arm around my neck.
“Come
on sis. You’ve had enough to drink.” I said.
“Aww…you
are…such a good sister to me! You deserve…to be a level three like me…but you
are not, and it sucks…I love you!” she shouted. I placed my hand over her mouth
and motioned her to move. We walked out the gym room and I kneeled to the
ground. “Yay! Piggy Back ride!” she expressed. She hopped on my back and I
quickly ran back to my dorm. I placed her on the spare bed next to mine. Only
reason there was a spare bed in my room was because she was supposed to move in
with me. But she chose to stay home and be pampered by our parents. Zero laid
next to Ariana as she quickly fell to sleep.
“Watch
after her, boy. While I go back to the party to make sure she didn’t leave
anything lying around.” I said. I walked out the door and back to the campus
gym. But before I could get close to the door, a couple of men and women
dressed in all-black hunter suits stopped me.
“Are
you sure this is her?” a woman asked. “I thought she had orange hair?”
“I’m
sure. She must have put on a wig or something, but those eyes tell it
all…Ariana Lowe. A level three vampire and the daughter of an old former guard
who worked for the kingdom and with that status is definably able to win the
battle for the Prince come November.” a man stated. I could see deadly silver
knives on their sides. I backed away with caution. I felt someone grab me from
behind and place a duffle bag over my head. I struggled to break free, but I
could feel several people hold me down.
“Stop
struggling or we will kill you!” a manly voice stated. I froze with fear at the
thought of death. I decided to listen to their command as I was thrown in a
vehicle. We drove for what seemed like thirty minutes and then the vehicle came
to a stop. The door opened, and someone placed me on top of there shoulders.
They started to walk for a while until they paused. They threw me to the ground
and removed the bag. I looked at them with rage and hissed at them.
“What
the hell is going on!” I yelled. They all looked at each other and laughed.
“Killing
level three vampires obviously.” a woman answered.
“So,
the rumors are true. You Hunter X people are killing level three vampires, so
the Prince can not marry!” I said.
“Aren’t
you a smart one. I thought you say this one was an air-head?” a man asked.
“She’s
supposed to be…”
“You
idiots I am not my sister!” I stated, standing to my feet. They looked shocked
by my words and then readied their weapons. I readied myself and launched at
them. I dodged their attacks and tried to run my way back to the vehicle. A
silver knife came out of nowhere and almost hit me in the face. I stopped with
shock and turned my attention back to the hunters.
“You
didn’t think you were the first to run away, did you? We placed traps
everywhere, just to make the kills more exciting.”. I clenched my fist and
removed the sword from the tree. The silver handle would have burned my hand if
it wasn’t for my fingerless gloves. I smirked at them as they looked at me with
worry.
“Yeah,
next time remove my gloves before you release me.” I commented. I ran towards a
woman who shot her pistol, but I blocked each one with the knife and quickly
slit her throat. I looked at the rest while feeling my surge of energy consume
me. I hissed at them and swiftly ran in the opposite direction. I know this
forest was filled with traps, but I needed to take a chance just to get to that
vehicle. I used my smell to retrace their steps to help lead me to the road. I
felt my foot sink in and when I looked to my right a loaded pistol was going
off.
I
avoided each bullet and kept running, but someone made me fall. I looked up and
saw another male hunter.
“Where
do you think you’re going, pretty?” he questioned. He picked up the knife I had
and smiled at me. His smile was wicked and full of poison. I stood with haste
and backed away. “Our boss is going to love you!” he yelled, thrusting his
knife. I don’t know why, but for some reason I couldn’t move. I’m I actually
scared of a human?
“Ah!” A
person growled in agony as the blow was taken by him and not me. I regained my
focus and saw my savior was… “William!”
****
“The
Prince!” the hunter exclaimed. He tried to reach for his phone, but Will made
it fly out of his hand. I kneeled and placed pressure on his left shoulder.
“Why
did you save me!?” I questioned. He removed my hands and stood. He charged at
the man and pierced his heart with his bare hand. Blood got all over him as his
eyes were filled with rage. He wasn’t himself right now and I knew it. I needed
to get him out of here before he bled to death. I pulled him forward, but
before we had a chance to move, a whole army of hunters surrounded us.
“Damn!”
I mumbled. Every where around us was blocked off, so I only had one option
left. I stood behind Will and gripped both of his arms. “Hang on.” I whispered.
I took a deep breath and looked at the night sky. I hovered above the ground
and then when I had enough energy, I took off at a high speed. They started to
shoot their guns but with luck I was able to dodge them. Once we were at a good
distance, I landed behind a huge boulder near the edge of a cliff.
“Nice
work” he mumbled in pain. I removed his jacket and looked at his arm. Because
silver is deadly to use, his wound was not going to heal easily. He needed
blood and right now there were no animals in sight. I put pressure on his wound
again to slow the bleeding. He was breathing hard, but his eyes never left my
face.
“Thank
you for saving me.” I whispered.
“You’re
welcome…but it’s really my fault they are chasing you.”
“No,
not really. They thought I was my sister and they only wanted her because she
is a level three vampire. Which I’m not.” I explained.
“You
are still a level two?” he questioned, shocked. I nodded and looked up at the
sky.
“Yep,
I’m the late bloomer of the family…always the loner.” I whispered. Will removed
my hands from his wound and held them. “What are you doing you will…”
“I
don’t care!” he stated, pulling me into an embrace. “I don’t care if I bleed
out…I just, I just want things to go back to normal. I miss you Cassy and I
wish I didn’t have to become king or marry and bite a woman for power…”
“Bite
a woman for power?” I questioned. He nodded while releasing me. I helped him to
his feet. He held his arm in pain and looked towards me.
“There’s
a legend stating that this generation of vampires-especially with royal blood-
can gain higher powers when they bite another fellow vampire of the opposite
gender. That’s why the Hunter X have been killing most level three female
vampires. So, that way I won’t have such powers when I take the throne.” he
explained. It took me a while to process all he said, but after I did, a crazy
idea came to mind.
“So,
just to get this straight. They are only killing level threes because they are
the strongest like you. But you can still technically bite anyone from any
level. You just won’t get as much power like with a level three.” I said. He
shook his head in an agreeing motion.
“Yeah
that’s right…but since I’m royal blood they will also get my markings on their
neck.” he added. He starts to lose his balance. I stood beside him and wrapped
his arm over my neck. We started to walk just so he could stay conscious. This
plan I had was life risking and if I do it, I will forever be a target by the
hunters, but something needed to be done. I looked up at Will face as my ears
started to twitch.
“They
are coming.” I mumbled.
“I
know, so forget about me and leave!” he commanded.
“I’m
not leaving you!” I stated. To think he would command such a thing was so
selfish, but it just proved to me how much he cared and could not stand the
thought of losing me. He would give up his life and his future kingly ship just
for me. I clenched my fist as the hunters surround us. Will stood with all his
might releasing his vampire side. He hissed at them. I turned on my vampire
mode too, but not to fight.
“I’m
so sorry Will, but I need you to live!” I yelled. Grabbing his shirt and
pulling his sharp fangs to my neck. Who would have thought, that I would make
such a sacrifice because I didn’t want the person I love to die? This act of
courage can truly be called Bitten by
Love, as blood drips down my neck.
